Live-action TV series based on the comic series by author Brad Abraham.
Welcome to the 90's. It’s the era of Grunge, Hip-Hop, Lollapalooza, Tarantino, and the rise of the Internet. Mixtape is an ensemble drama that tells the story of the rise (and fall) of the Alternative Rock era of the 1990s, as witnessed by five music-obsessed teens coming of age against its backdrop. Struggling through the pains of growing up and united by their love of the music found left of the dial, Jim (the rebel), Siobhan (the teen queen), Lorelei (the bohemian), Terry (the geek) and Noel (the prep) move from small town high school into urban college life just as the music of The Smashing Pumpkins, R.E.M., Pearl Jam, Sonic Youth, Joy Division, The Pixies, Depeche Mode, and some guys from Seattle named Nirvana burst out of the underground and conquer the mainstream. But what these friends will discover in the years to come is that the bond of friendship they thought would never break has already begun to crack, and the music they thought they'd love forever has already started to fade. Striving to hold fast to one another in an era of sweeping social, political, and cultural changes, they’ll discover that everyone’s life, even theirs, has a soundtrack. This is their Story. Their Life. Their Mixtape.
